The U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services is inviting applications for the fiscal year 2012 discretionary grant competition under Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children With Disabilities—Personnel Preparation in Special Education, Early Intervention, and Related Services. Eligible applicants are institutions of higher education. The deadline for transmittal of applications is June 25, 2012.
The purpose of this program is to (a) help address state-identified needs for highly qualified personnel—in special education, early intervention, and related services and regular education—to work with children, including infants and toddlers, with disabilities; and (b) ensure that those personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge, derived from practices that have been determined through scientifically based research and experience, to be successful in serving those children.
