Description: This is a systematic review of published, original, peer-reviewed research studies addressing the measurement of health-related quality of life outcomes for children with cochlear implants.

Conclusions:
There is a lack of well-validated HRQL instruments. Future studies should ensure use of a validated measure and utilize strict inclusion/exclusion criteria. As a previous study has demonstrated reduced HRQL in 7-8 year old deaf children in comparison to hearing peers, future studies should address the impact of cochlear implantation at varying stages of development.
