Description

The purpose of this position is to maximize non-dues revenue of ASHA's products and services to achieve sales goals, increase brand awareness, broaden the audience of customers, and improve buyer retention across ASHA's suite of products and services. This position is responsible for identifying new product opportunities. This position will coordinate with teams across ASHA's National Office to create new and update extant content and graphics of established products to ensure their currency and relevance to different stakeholder audiences. This position will be responsible for marketing communications in support of ASHA's products and services. This position is involved in analyzing customer behavior and analyzing and identifying buyer segments; reporting on marketplace and consumer trends; and providing ongoing analysis of the competitive landscape to support planning and decision making.

Responsibilities

  1. Manages projects, including providing creative direction and managing product production in support of marketing's goals for ASHA's products and services; manages external vendors in the product development process.
  2. Plans, develops, and executes multichannel marketing initiatives that communicate the ASHA brand promise to different ASHA stakeholder audiences.
  3. Develops and writes creative, effective marketing pieces that communicate the quality and benefits of ASHA products in order to maximize sales and support the ASHA brand.
  4. Assists Marketing Director and stakeholders in the development and fielding of market research, including question development and list selects; stays abreast of customer and marketplace trends, competitive information, sales data, and campaign tracking data to help inform decisions about marketing initiatives and content development and new and existing products.
  5. Assists Marketing Director in the development and production of new products that are identified through ASHA's Book Program.
  6. Coordinates marketing initiatives with other members of the Marketing team and provides back-up support, as needed; assists in other marketing initiatives as needed, including, but not limited to, writing copy for special promotions and providing support, as necessary, for live bookstore events.

Qualifications

Knowledge Typically Acquired Through

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Marketing and/or Business Management
  • Minimum of 5 years of marketing experience in a similar position in either a non-profit or corporate organization
  • Experience in product production and publishing
  • Experience in developing and executing multiple, integrated cross-channel campaigns touching on brand marketing objectives, using print advertising, e-mail marketing, social media opportunities, mobile technology, and other marketing tactics
  • Excellent copywriting skills with proven results to effectively communicate relevant, engaging marketing messages to different audiences
  • Experience that shows strategic, creative, and analytic thinking

Scope and Depth of Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Excellent organizational skills, including project management and production knowledge
  • Excellent copywriting, proofing, and editing of marketing communications and manuscripts, including feedback to graphic designers on layout and design
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software suite; familiarity with Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) databases, Google Analytics, Customer Behavior Analysis, sales reporting, and Excel Pivot Tables to inform decision-making

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with other units
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines through the use of excellent organizational skills. Attention to detail a must
  • Independent problem-solving abilities and high level of confidence in decision making
  • Strong, proactive approach and initiative to facilitate project completion
