A Guide for Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists

The Medicaid program is jointly funded by the federal and state governments to assist states in providing medical care to low-income individuals and those who are categorized as medically needy. Audiology and speech-language pathology services are recognized as covered services under the Medicaid program. The federal government establishes broad guidelines. Each state then administers its own program and establishes its own income eligibility standards; type, amount, duration, and scope of services covered; and payment rates. State program plans are subject to review and approval by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
