Treatment Approaches for Benign Laryngeal Lesions

Professional literature has suggested the use of several voice therapy orientations including hygienic, symptomatic, psychogenic, physiologic, and eclectic. In this very practical presentation, the principles of each voice therapy orientation will be discussed while specific physiologic voice therapy approaches will be described. Specific management approaches for benign laryngeal voice pathologies will be taught including Vocal Function Exercises and Resonant Voice Therapy.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • identify the basic philosophical orientations of voice therapy
  • demonstrate that as SLPs we’re actually treating the underlying physiology of voice disorders, and not individual vocal pathologies
  • apply appropriate therapeutic techniques for benign laryngeal pathology
