This webinar focuses on effective assessment and treatment of communication challenges in adults with diagnosed mental health conditions, a growing and often underserved population. The speakers explore how disease progression and medication can affect an individual’s behaviors, social interactions, and communication. The speakers also discuss the roles, responsibilities, and contributions of SLPs working with patients with communication challenges and mental health diagnoses.

Learning Objectives:
You will be able to:

  • explain the key contributions SLPs can make when working with patients who present with mental health diagnoses
  • identify assessment tools to create appropriate goals with objective measures for patients experiencing communication deficits as a result of mental health diagnoses and related issues
  • explain the SLP’s role in interdisciplinary discussions about reducing anti-psychotic medication use in elderly patients living inside and outside long-term care facilities

What is a webinar?

Webinars are slide-based presentation and question-and-answer sessions that you can watch live at a pre-scheduled date and time or on-demand at your leisure after the live event occurs (see live date for this webinar above).
