Intervention for Students Struggling With Literacy

This course bundle includes three recorded sessions from ASHA’s 2017 Schools Connect conference, held in July in New Orleans, Louisiana. These sessions highlight how SLPs and teachers can collaborate to help elementary through high school students with literacy problems develop the skills they need for academic success. The sessions focus on a blueprint for language-sensitive domain teaching and related intervention, curriculum-based intervention, and integrating oral and written discourse information with existing knowledge to understand narratives.

The five sessions in this course bundle are:

  • Working With Teachers to Assist Adolescents Struggling With Disciplinary Literacy, by Barbara J. Ehren, EdD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL
  • Written Language in the Classroom and Curriculum, by Nickola Wolf Nelson, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-CL
  • Narrative Discourse Intervention for School-Age Students: Critical Components, by Sandra Laing Gillam, PhD, CCC-SLP
