Craig E. Coleman, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-F

Craig Coleman, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-F, is the Chairperson of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Edinboro University in Edinboro, PA, and a Board Certified Specialist in Stuttering. He teaches graduate courses in professional issues in speech-language pathology and stuttering, as well as an undergraduate courses in research, stuttering, and speech sound production. In addition to the many peer-reviewed journal publications and book chapters that he has written, Mr. Coleman has given more than 200 presentations on stuttering to audiences around the world, focusing on helping speech-language pathologists become more comfortable with assessing and treating children and adults who stutter. In particular, Mr. Coleman has worked with many school districts to provide specialized training and consultations for students who stutter.

Mr. Coleman has been involved in service to the professions throughout his career. At the state level, Mr. Coleman served two terms as President of the Pennsylvania Speech-Language Hearing Association, where he helped the chapter achieve updated state licensure. At the national level, Mr. Coleman has served on the ASHA Legislative Council, the ASHA Scientific and Professional Education Board, and the 2016 ad-hoc committee to revise the scope of practice document for speech-language pathology. Mr. Coleman recently served as Coordinator of ASHA Special Interest Group 4 (Fluency and Fluency Disorders) and played an instrumental role in the decision to move Perspectives of the ASHA Special Interest Groups to peer-reviewed status (in January 2019, the publication became a scholarly review journal). He has also served on the American Board of Fluency Disorders and as Topic Chair for the ASHA Convention.

Mr. Coleman also volunteers in his local community by co-directing a summer program, Stuttering U., for children who stutter and their families. In addition, he has served on the local Little League Executive Board, and devotes his free time to coaching youth baseball.

Mr. Coleman is an ASHA Fellow and has received both the Clinical Achievement Award and Honors from the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association. He has also received the ASHA Media Outreach Champion Award.
