The ASHA Board of Directors has accepted the AuD Education Summit
Task Force Report [PDF], prepared by the task force members, that describes the Summit's working group recommendations.
2016 AuD Education Summit was held at the ASHA National Office October 27–28, 2016. The purpose of the Summit was to discuss the challenges associated with the current model of clinical audiology education, learn about alternative models from other
doctoral professions, and identify strategies for improvement. Representatives from all AuD programs, as well as from audiology professional associations and credentialing bodies, participated.
The task force was established following the Summit and charged with developing an action plan to identify the following goals:
- Provide a mechanism for establish Summit working groups to further pursue strategies for addressing the identified challenges.
- Provide frameworks and mechanisms for standardization of the AuD externship.
- Provide frameworks and mechanisms for evaluating student readiness and outcome measures.
