ASHA, the American Occupational Therapy Association, and the American Physical Therapy Association met with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) yesterday to discuss student supervision in acute care hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities. The meeting was collegial. CMS officials verbally confirmed that there has been no policy change on the use of students, and confirmed their support for clinical education for students. CMS further agreed to provide additional clarification in writing to the three organizations in the near future. Further updates will be shared through ASHA Headlines.
