Sponsored by SIG 1 Language Learning and Education

This live online chat brings together three scholars to discuss associations among language impairment, speech sound disorder, and reading difficulties. Bring your questions, challenges, and experiences related to providing literacy-related services to school-aged children who have been identified as having a language and/or speech sound disorder. This chat will also address providing services for students receiving Tier 2 interventions who have not been diagnosed with a disability yet, as well as clients in other clinical or private practice settings. The panelists will highlight the SLP’s role in addressing literacy. The following panelists will participate:

  • C. Melanie Schuele, PhD, CCC-SLP, Associate Professor, Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
  • Victoria S. Henbest, MS, CCC-SLP, doctoral candidate, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of South Carolina
  • Suzanne M. Adlof, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of South Carolina
