A number of themed lounge areas will be located throughout the Los Angeles Convention Center for attendees to chat with ASHA representatives to learn more about ASHA programs and services, connect with colleagues who share similar interests, or just gather and rest between sessions.

ASHA Continuing Education Lounge

Visit the Continuing Education Lounge! Charge your devices while you relax and view your ASHA Continuing Education (CE) Registry transcript. ASHA CE assists members in meeting their CE needs by providing an online listing of courses offered for ASHA continuing education units (CEUs) through ASHA CEFind, documenting course completion through the ASHA CE Registry and ASHA CE transcripts, recognizing CE participation through the Award for Continuing Education (ACE), and managing services specific to ASHA CE Provider approval.

The publication of research is undergoing a period of transformative change. New tools are available for authors to maximize the visibility, use, and impact of their work. Reviewers and editors are increasingly relying on widely adopted standards for the evaluation of different types of articles. And readers are faced with the challenge of how to keep up with the ever-growing amount being published. Don’t panic—we have ample supplies of both candy and tips for how to make sense of it all at the ASHA Journals Lounge. The ASHA Leader Ideas Lounge

Visit The ASHA Leader Ideas Lounge and submit your ideas for articles for a chance to win an iPad! You give us an idea, we enter you in a raffle and give away an iPad to a submitter of one of the ideas. Ideas must be formally submitted via computer for a chance to win, however,Leader staff will also be on hand to informally chat about what you like or don’t like, what you’d like to see more of, or any other feedback you’d like to share about The ASHA Leader. ASHA Member Services Center

ASHA staff will be on hand at the ASHA Member Services Center to help you with all the information and services the association provides. The AMSC is your one-stop solution at the Convention for all of your ASHA membership needs and can also help you with questions about the Exhibit Hall. Special ribbons may also be found in the AMSC.

Certification Lounge

The Certification Lounge is the place to learn more about the certification process, the current certification standards, certification maintenance, as well as proposed and/or upcoming changes to the audiology and speech-language pathology standards for certification. In the Certification Lounge, you will also be able to learn more about Clinical Specialty Certification from staff and members of the Council for Clinical Certification.

Circle of Support Lounge

Enjoy a light snack at the Career Fair’s Circle of Support Lounge while you participate in the facilitated mini-workshops featuring work/life balance tips, how to have critical conversations, and how to handle the toughest interview questions. Plan to spend some time at our new Concierge Learning Center, and let knowledgeable ASHA staff members help identify sessions that fit YOUR professional interests and goals. The handy online Program Planner and mobile app are always available—in advance and on site—however, our team at the Learning Center is ready to personally assist you with creating a customized schedule of sessions focusing on the topics or issues that interest you most. Learning Center team members are there to help make this your most enriching ASHA Convention ever.

The Learning Center will be staffed with experts from a wide variety of ASHA teams (Audiology Professional Practices, Speech-Language Pathology Professional Practices, Professional Development, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Government Relations and Public Policy, and more) that can provide guidance and advice on many topics and professional issues (e.g., reimbursement, policy). Not only will our experts help you identify the best sessions to attend during the ASHA Convention, but they will also suggest additional resources to investigate after you return to your work, such as key ASHA web pages, publications, CEU courses, or other conferences and workshops to extend your learning experience beyond your time in Los Angeles.

The Learning Center is the place to ask just about any question about a professional topic or engage in a focused discussion with our friendly staff experts. Located next to Registration, the Concierge Learning Center is ready to work with you. Empowerment Zone (includes SIGs, Leadership, Advocacy, Media Skill-Building, and MORE!)

In the ASHA Empowerment Zone, we can help you identify and sharpen your social, political, and personal advocacy skills!

The education program offered at the ASHA Convention will help you improve your clinical skills and expand your professional knowledge base, but what about other intangible skills that that can help you be more effective in your professional and personal life? For example, would you like to learn how to advocate more effectively on behalf of your clients, students, or colleagues? Or, do you need some tips on how to speak out on issues you care about in your life outside work?

ASHA members are caring, compassionate, concerned, and committed citizens, but the new issues and new calls to action bombarding us each day can become overwhelming. Advocacy comes in many shapes and forms, so we’ll be there to help you rise to the challenge and find a way to make a meaningful difference in a way that feels right to you. We will guide you through filtering and elevating the issues you care about most, and we’ll show you ways to make your message impactful.

The Empowerment Zone will have representation from ASHA via the SIGs, volunteer leadership, ASHA staff members engaged in political advocacy, and more—to help you learn more about speaking with the media, public speaking, personal branding, and storytelling, as well as how to use social media more effectively. Come to the Empowerment Zone to explore our Advocacy Style test, collect tips, and identify resources to amplify your voice in a way that is productive and suits your personality.

The Faculty-Researcher Lounge is a popular place for faculty and researchers to connect, learn about the CSD Education Survey data, get questions answered about academic and clinical education issues, and engagement opportunities with our award, mentoring, and research education programs. Learn about ASHA's initiatives to enhance supervision training and interprofessional education/interprofessional collaborative practice (IPE/IPP).

International Lounge

Welcome, international participants! Everyone is invited to stop by and learn about ASHA International Programs. Find out more about the benefits of the International Affiliates program; ASHA’s international initiatives; ASHA’s collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO)—and, in particular, with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO); SIG 17 (Global Issues in Communication Sciences and Related Disorders); and the International Issues Board. An interactive world map will be showcased so that international participants can locate and place a pin on their countries. Share, ask questions, and learn from your colleagues!

Stop by the NSSLHA Lounge to pick up student-related ribbons, meet National NSSLHA leaders, and make new friends! While there, nab one of our free giveaways and snap a selfie in our selfie station.
