Michigan Early Intervention Requirements for Practice

The information below is collected from state licensure boards or regulatory agencies responsible for developing requirements for the professions of audiology and/or speech-language pathology to work in the early intervention setting. Education

Master’s degree

Certification/Licensure

State licensure is issued by the Michigan Board of Audiology and/or the Michigan Board of Speech-Language Pathology.

Training

Any audiologist participating in or providing the following to children and families receiving Part C services must complete the Essentials of Early On Training:

  • Evaluation of the child or assessment of the child and family;
  • Family training, counseling, and home visits; or
  • Service coordination services. 

Note: The Essentials of Early On Training is a state developed training, consisting of 5 online modules, to ensure the provider has the basic core understanding of important aspects of early intervention.
