Auditory Bombardment for Apraxia
Originally a Barbara Hodson trainee years ago, and a strong advocate of her phonology program, I have found that adults with apraxia really benefit from using the auditory amplifier and similar bombardment strategies. In many cases, I believe that both the mild sensorineural hearing loss that many older adults experience and the frequent attention problems associated with stroke may interfere with treatment. However, when you use the amplifier you are able to reduce those interferring factors. Patients tend to "get it" and are able to produce their target a lot easier.
