Charge Up Your Chapter for the New Chapter Recognition Awards at the 2012 NSSLHA Luncheon and Awards Ceremony

Charge_Up_275NSSLHA is celebrating its 40th anniversary at the NSSLHA Luncheon and Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 16, during NSSLHA Day at the ASHA Convention in the Omni Hotel CNN Center, Atlanta, Georgia. We need all of our NSSLHA chapters to help us mark this significant milestone by participating in our new "Charge Up your Chapter" chapter recognition awards programs. This campaign includes a chapter video contest, in addition to a t-shirt design contest. Local chapters can also vie for awards in any of the eight categories below:

  • The chapter with the most posts (or replies) on the NSSLHA group of the ASHA Community
  • The chapter with the most students attending the ASHA Convention
  • The chapter with the most student memberships in ASHA's Special Interest Groups
  • The chapter with the most male students
  • The chapter with the most submissions to ASHA and NSSLHA Award, Grants, Scholarships, and competitions
  • The chapter that traveled the greatest distance to attend the ASHA Convention
  • The chapter with the most audiology degree majors as local members
  • The chapter that has donated the most money to the ASHFoundation this year

Is your NSSLHA chapter a contender? If so, submit your materials by October 31. Winners will be announced at noon at the NSSLHA Luncheon and Awards Ceremony, Friday, November 16, in the Omni CNN Center, Atlanta, Georgia.


2012 Honors of NSSLHA Recipients Announced

Please join the NSSLHA Executive Council in celebrating the accomplishments of these individuals and local chapters as the 2012 recipients of the Honors of NSSLHA.

NSSLHA will recognize the recipients during the NSSLHA Luncheon and Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 16, 2012, noon - 1:30 p.m., Omni CNN Center.

Student tickets are $5 and may be purchased online through Convention registration. Chapter Advisors interested in attending may request tickets with their Convention registration for $15. A portion of the proceeds will go to the NSSLHA 40/40 campaign for the NSSLHA Scholarship Fund.

ASHA Members Needed for Consultant Positions on the NSSLHA Executive Council

Is there a professor in your program who is passionate about working with students? Does this faculty member have a talent with developing students into leaders? Then there is an opening on the NSSLHA Executive Council, and we invite you to recommend your faculty member to experience the opportunity of a lifetime.

The NSSLHA Executive Council is currently recruiting for:

  • Consultant for Educational Programming
    The NSSLHA Consultant for Educational Programming guides and advises the NSSLHA Executive Council to facilitate student-focused Convention activities, and serves as an information source for content in pre-professional issues and chapter development, as well as representing NSSLHA on the ASHA Scientific and Professional Education Board (SPEB).
  • Consultant for Student Affairs
    The Consultant for Student Affairs provides direction to the NSSLHA Executive Council on best practices and emerging issues in the professions, as well as sharing strategies that will assist the association in improving its benefits, services, and recruitment of special populations as members.

Candidates must submit the application with a résumé or curriculum vitae by September 14, 2012. Candidates are also required to provide letters of support from one professional and from one student electronically to nsslhaprograms@asha.org by September 28, 2012.
