When an individual with stroke symptoms is admitted to the hospital, it’s critical to perform a rapid swallowing screening. Most hospitals have implemented some form of screening; however, the majority of these tools are not validated. This program focuses on the current research and best practices while critically reviewing the design and implementation of an optimal screening tool.
Learning Outcomes You will be able to:
- discuss the content of current screening tools
- articulate the advantages and disadvantages of nursing-administered swallowing screening tools
- list the components of a well-designed screening tool
Group Registration Note: A group registration entitles you to one Web to this program. Any number of people may listen and earn ASHA CEUs on that connection. The person who will act as site leader for the broadcast should register on behalf of the group. After registering, the site leader will be able to download seminar instructions, handouts, and CEU materials. The site leader needs to have, or create, a login to the ASHA Web site.
