Kids in High-Risk Situations: Your Legal and Ethical Obligations (Live Webinar)
This session will deal with a number of pressing questions about what to do when dealing with kids in high-risk situations. It will address what can be done when there is suspicion of substance abuse, whether involving legal or illegal substances; a client exhibits indications he or she is considering suicide; or there are signs of abuse. We will address how to identify these issues, whether to report them, if so, how/where to report and what the ethical and legal obligations for the audiologist/SLP are in this situation.
You will be able to:
- Use a checklist of signs to determine if you should act
- Identify actions you can take to keep the child safe
- Determine with whom to collaborate
- Report the situation to the appropriate authorities
