Speech-language pathologists play a critical role in the delivery of team-based, early intervention services to children from birth to age 3. Explore practices that lead to quality services in early interventions provided by SLPs—service delivery models, the role of the SLP, and family-centered intervention strategies.
Learning Outcomes You will be able to:
- identify key components, knowledge and skills, and best practices in the ASHA guidelines for SLPs delivering early intervention services
- collaborate with families in the assessment of typical activities and routines to identify potential intervention contexts and intervention plans
- identify adaptations or assistive technology to promote children’s participation in typical activities and family routines
- implement specific strategies for collaborating with caregivers to facilitate their children’s communication and language development
- implement evidence-based child intervention strategies within the context of activities and family routines
