The Summer Study abroad program to P.R. China has historically included travel to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Beijing. Under the supervision of Ph.D. and clinical faculty students have visited multiple sites which included hospitals, special schools, orphanages, senior centers, private training and rehabilitation centers. The group also provided direct clinical consultation and clinical training to professionals and clients.
Dominican Republic
A newly established study abroad program to the Dominican Republic (DR ) will provide the opportunity for students participating on the specialized training tracks in bilingualism (e.g. Bilingual Connections) and cultural/linguistic diversity (e.g. CREATT - Cultural Responsive Early Intervention in Assistive Technology Training) as well as literacy to engage in research and clinical service delivery in their chosen areas of specialization.

Graduate student clinicians who speak native to near-native proficiency in Spanish are eligible to become specialists in the assessment and treatment of monolingual/bilingual children and adults. The tract provides a combination of specialized coursework and practicum training to address the needs to serve Hispanic children and adults with communication disorders.
Culturally Responsive Early Intervention in Assistive Technology Training (CREATT)
CREATT provides coursework and practica experiences in early intervention (EI), augmentative and alternative communication and cultural and linguistic diversity. Academic training and clinical practicum training are research driven and aligned with the expanding job requirements critical to effectively serve increasingly diverse and complex populations.
