This course provides audiologists, SLPs, and other professionals with an overview of current perspectives on assessing, diagnosing, and treating CAPD. You will learn about the fundamental neuroscience behind auditory processing and about CAPD’s relationship to language, learning, and communication difficulties. Then you will explore the development and implementation of individualized, deficit-specific treatment plans. The program focuses primarily on CAPD in school-aged children, but the principles also apply to adults. This is a slide-based, online presentation followed by an online question-and-answer session.
You will be able to:
- discuss how neurobiology informs the understanding, definition, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of CAPD
- identify common behavioral signs of CAPD
- discuss CAPD screening and diagnosis methods
- identify intervention approaches and activities for individuals with CAPD
- define the roles of the SLP, audiologist, and other professionals in the assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment of CAPD
