Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • discuss the current literature on resistance exercise and swallow function
  • discuss the origins, theoretical foundation, and research on the use of OST
  • assess evidence for improved swallowing and functional communication in people with Parkinson’s disease using LSVT®
  • list the steps involved in facial neuromuscular retraining
  • describe the advantages and limitations of applying established philosophies and principles of exercise to making decisions about swallowing treatment
