This self-study explores the evidence base for several issues pertaining to speech sound disorders and their treatment.
Learning Outcomes You will be able to:
- determine whether to select stimulable or nonstimulable sounds as treatment targets
- describe evidence concerning oral motor exercises in the treatment of speech sound disorders
- use cognitive science and linguistic theory to assist in selecting speech sound targets
- describe computer applications for speech sound assessment and intervention
- apply phonological awareness instruction to treatment of children with speech sound disorders
