Every year, new advances are made in diagnosis, assessment, and intervention related to cognitive communication disorders of dementia. In this program, we’ll summarize these key advances so you can translate them into your everyday clinical practice. We’ll begin with a brief background on dementia and cognitive communication disorders, followed by a discussion of evidence-based interventions and clinical cases that illustrate real-world application. You’ll also be provided with a complete list of references and recommended sources for further study.
You will be able to:
- describe different types of dementia
- discuss cognitive-communication deficits of dementia and their impact on patients and communication partners
- select appropriate assessment strategies
- implement intervention techniques that are problem-focused, client-centered, and evidence-based
