The reimbursement landscape for health care continues to undergo major changes. In this program, we’ll address how those changes affect SLPs while reviewing the latest updates for diagnostic and procedural coding systems. You’ll learn about practical issues such as which procedures can be provided to the same patient on the same day, which procedure codes can be paired with particular diagnosis codes, and which diagnosis codes may be reimbursed. We’ll also discuss future trends in reimbursement methodologies and business issues such as how procedure codes relate to paid fees, the required levels of supervision in different settings, and when rates can be negotiated.
Learning Outcomes You will be able to:
- discuss reimbursement from different payer sources in today’s economic climate
- describe the basic coding systems (diagnostic and procedural)
- describe how procedural codes relate to reimbursement, and whether rates can be negotiated with different payers
- select appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes and describe the documentation needed to support billing claims for evaluation and treatment
