Current events and issues are affecting coding and reimbursement, which means 2013 will be a year filled with radical changes in reimbursement. In this session, we’ll describe health care economics as the basis for the change and we’ll present an overview of the proposed reimbursement models. Finally, we’ll discuss what is and is not known about the forthcoming changes and how they will directly impact reimbursement for audiology, clinical practice, and academic training.

Learning Outcomes
You will be able to:

  • describe the economic factors associated with health care reimbursement changes
  • discuss the proposed models of reimbursement, general applications, and theoretical impact on the totality of health care
  • discuss the anticipated impact on audiology clinical practice
  • discuss the anticipated impact on the academic training of audiology graduate students
