Events and Activities for Associates at Convention
The 2011 ASHA annual Convention in San Diego will be the first Convention attended by new Associates. ASHA wishes you great beginnings and great success in your role supporting the association's Certified Members.

First-Timers' Orientation
Wednesday, November 16
5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
San Diego Convention Center, Room 20D
New attendees are encouraged to come to this gathering to learn about the ASHA Convention and what to expect over the next three days. You'll have an opportunity to meet ASHA President Paul Rao and Convention Co-Chairs Kathy Coufal and Bob Novak, as well as other ASHA representatives. Light refreshments will be served.
Associates Breakfast Reception

In keeping with California Speech Language Hearing Association's long-standing tradition of hosting a breakfast for assistants. ASHA's Associates Program invites new Associates, assistants, and their supervisors to a welcome breakfast and an opportunity to network with colleagues from across the country. Bring your enthusiasm, your questions, and your appetite and join everyone for a lovely morning repast and a time for sharing with each other!
Welcome Speech-Language Pathology Assistants and Audiology Assistants

8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
San Diego Convention Center, Room 30CD
This session is developed by the Convention Program Committee. This session will provide information for SLP and Audiology Assistants and their supervisors. An overview of the ASHA Associates Program will be provided with answers to key questions. In addition, ethical and legal issues related to the use of assistants will be reviewed, and lessons learned when using assistants and tips for establishing a successful relationship between assistants and supervisors will be provided.
Convention Sessions for Associates
The 2011 ASHA Convention, Nov. 17–19 in San Diego, will include a number of educational sessions specifically designed for or of interest to audiology and speech-language pathology assistants.
