School Speech and Hearing Clinician Endorsement

Effective September 1, 2000, a birth-to-age 21 school speech-language pathologist must possess a master's degree in speech-language pathology or its equivalent. Those individuals who possess a current South Dakota teaching certificate with a 402 endorsement have until 2020 to obtain the master's degree or its equivalency. If the teaching certificate lapses during this 20 year time period, the new hire requirement would be in effect.

Continuing Education Requirement

Six renewal credits approved by the Department of Education are required every five years.
