Health Care Reform Needs Your Input: Participate in ASHA's Summer Recess Advocacy Campaign

(08/14/2009)

ASHA's Summer Recess Advocacy Campaign will include a series of action alerts on specific issues impacting speech and hearing services within the health care reform debate. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be asking you to contact your federal legislators through ASHA's Take Action Web site to help ensure better access, coverage, and payment for hearing and speech services. You have a vested interest and defined stake in the process and as the health care reform debate moves forward in September, we need your help to speak up on issues not only impacting our practices, but the patients we serve.

Republicans and Democrats alike agree that the country's current health care system needs to be fixed. At the heart of the debate is to what extent and how any reforms will be enacted. While ASHA has been engaging congressional leaders about the various reform proposals being considered, it has neither endorsed nor opposed any one specific plan.
