Engage Congress Today on Key Issues for 2009

(02/24/2009)

2009 is off to a vigorous start. As March approaches, please consider renewing your commitment to ASHA through your grassroots advocacy participation. ASHA advocates are the lifeblood of the legislative work and success so crucial to strengthening and supporting the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology.

The 111th Congress and Obama Administration offer new opportunities to advance issues that are critical to ASHA members and those served by the professions. ASHA's 2009 Public Policy Agenda consists of issues that include health and education reform, direct access to audiology, telehealth, and loan forgiveness. Your help is needed—now more than ever—to garner support for these important issues. Resolving to increase your advocacy in 2009 will help ensure ASHA's continued momentum from key victories last year and the success of ASHA's advocacy priorities.

Send a message today to your federal elected officials and let them know about your renewed commitment to ASHA advocacy, and give them a 'heads up' about the issues you'll be contacting them about in 2009.

In addition to ASHA's extensive policy agenda and legislative goals for the 111th Congress, ASHA has also been working to make sure the professions are top-of-mind for the new Obama Administration. ASHA staff and members have been working tirelessly to ensure that ASHA-centric issues play a role in the Administration's goals this year.

Together, we can make 2009 a stellar year. Send your message today!
