ED Invites Applications for FY2009 Funding Awards

The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services of the U.S. Department of Education (ED) has opened the following grant competitions and is inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2009. Applications became available on July 10, 2009 and eligible applicants include state education agencies (SEAs) and local education agencies (LEAs).

• Technology and Media Services for Individuals with Disabilities—Center on Technology Implementation. The purposes of the program are to: (1) Improve results for children with disabilities by promoting the development, demonstration, and use of technology; (2) support educational media services activities designed to be of educational value in the classroom setting to children with disabilities; and (3) provide support for captioning and video description of educational materials that are appropriate for use in the classroom setting. The deadline for transmittal of applications is August 10, 2009.
• Technical Assistance and Dissemination to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities—Regional Resource Centers. The purpose of the program is to promote academic achievement and to improve results for children with disabilities by providing technical assistance, supporting model demonstration projects, disseminating useful information, and implementing activities that are supported by scientifically based research. The deadline for transmittal of applications is August 10, 2009.
