ASHA has prepared a detailed analysis [PDF] on select sections of the 2008 IDEA Part B supplemental final regulations. These final regulations became effective December 31, 2008 and amend the August 14, 2006 final Part B regulations on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the areas of: parental revocation of consent for the continued provision of special education and related services; non-attorney representation in due process hearings; state monitoring, technical assistance, and enforcement; and allocation of funds.
With input from a member advisory group, ASHA identified the following issues as significant to the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology.
- Parental Consent
- State Issues
- Hearing Rights
