HES Starter Kit: Background
Why was the HES developed?
There was no single comprehensive system to collect and report data in a centralized, uniform, and consistent manner...until the HES.
Each year, the ASHA, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD), and the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) receive numerous requests for data about communication sciences and disorders (CSD) programs at all degree levels from academic programs, state and federal agencies, researchers, and students. To address requests, these organizations collaborated to create the HES as the authoritative data source for information about higher education in CSD.
What survey and reports are in the HES?
- CSD Education Survey
- CAA Application
- CAA Annual Report
