Win a Complimentary 2012 CAPCSD or ASHA Conference Registration

In appreciation of your time and assistance with completing the Higher Education Data System (HES) CSD Education Survey by December 16, 2011, your institution will be entered into a random drawing to win one of two complimentary registrations to attend the 2012 CAPCSD conference or 2012 ASHA Convention. Academic programs must complete the CSD Education Survey by December 16, 2011 to qualify. Two winners, one CAPCSD conference and one ASHA Convention registration, will be notified in January, 2012. The institution's CSD program director or designee may use the complimentary registration.

Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Education Survey

The "Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Education Survey" was fielded on September 26, 2011, to a control group of 23 institutions to ensure the newly updated system is operating correctly and open to all institutions with CSD academic programs on September 30. The CSD Education Survey deadline has been extended to January 13, 2012.

The CSD Education Survey provides the national and state by state aggregated data that will comprise the "HES Data Reports" jointly published by ASHA and CAPCSD. Select data points in this survey will also update ASHA's EdFind search engine.

CAA reports will be fielded through the existing HES system until they can be transitioned to the new HES platform sometime in 2012.

Congratulations to the Communication Sciences Disorders (CSD) graduate program community. The Graduate Guide Survey opened last year on September 7 and closed December 30, 2010. A record breaking 89% (229 of 257 institutions) participated. The following is the completion rate by area of study:

  • 97% of audiology entry-level programs completed (70/72 institutions)
  • 92% of institutions with PhD programs completed (65/71 institutions)
  • 89% of institutions with master's SLP programs (220/247 institutions)
  • 8% increase in overall completion rates compared to 2009

EdFind, our CSD search engine, includes updated information for potential students and those in the field that use EdFind data. Data mined from the 2010 Graduate Guide Survey instance has been published in "ASHA's State by State Data Report on Graduate Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders for AY2009–2010."
