Titration—the step-wise method of increasing the dose of a medication.

Cross—titration-the method of decreasing an old medication while increasing the dose of a new medication being used for a similar purpose. This is needed to allow time for the new medication to start working.

Patient assistance programs—provide up to three months of free medication to a consumer directly from the manufacturer. Eligibility is sometimes based on household income. Usually requires paperwork to be completed by prescriber.

Psychotropics—medications that are used to manage depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, and other psychiatric disorders.
