Resources on Distance Learning

  • New Web Resource: Later this year, the ASHA Web site will feature a new Web-based resource on distance learning, called Teaching with Technology. The site will be located within the newly developed Faculty, Researcher, and PhD Member Community Web site and will include a compendium of resources and information related to distance learning.
  • Entering the Mainstream: The Quality and Extent of Online Education in the United States, 2003 and 2004. A report of the second annual study of the state of online education in U.S. higher education. Supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and based on responses from over 1,100 colleges and universities.
  • Guiding Principles for Distance Learning in a Learning Society (1996). Developed by a national task force and published by the American Council on Education, these guiding principles include recommendations for quality distance learning with regard to core values, learning design, learner support, organizational commitment, learning outcomes, and technology.
