I agree with Elizabeth Chacon in her suggestion that ASHA consider changing the ASHA dues date to another time during the year. December is a horrible time for such a large financial amount to be due. Please accept my suggestion to change the dues date to June or July. As a public school SLP, this time of the year would work out nicely as I receive my final paychecks in a lump sum.

I could not agree more with Ms. Chacon's letter in the Feb. 13, 2007, issue of The ASHA Leader. The end of the calendar year is a horrible time to have our very large amount of dues due. The end of the fiscal year makes much more sense. Please reconsider!!

Editor's note: ASHA's fiscal year is the calendar year, so invoicing for annual membership dues and fees is timed for calendar-year processing. To make it more convenient for members and to encourage planning, ASHA also provides online dues renewal notices in September and mails hard copy notices in October. ASHA offers a grace period of one month after the Dec. 31 deadline.
