Salary Supplements

For years now I have been reading about various efforts to supplement the salaries of school-based speech-language pathologists. Some efforts succeed; many don't, and all require many hours of valuable time on the part of very busy professionals who already don't have enough time to adequately meet the needs of their students. I would like to know why it is that we aren't compensated on an equal level to the school psychologists. That would be true professional recognition. Supplements are nice, but salary is what counts, especially when considering retirement benefits. Our certificates, licenses, and training are comparable to that of school psychologists. Why is it that school psychologists in my district make $10,000 more than I do for only 11 days more work? At that rate I would be making close to $1,000 a day for 11 days. Sounds good to me!
