Congratulations and well done to the Glendora (California) Unified School District SLPs ("SLPs Earn New Title, Raise Awareness," The ASHA Leader, July 11, 2006). We in nearby Burbank Unified School District are planning a similar presentation to our board in May 2007. I would like to correct a misleading statement in the article. There are more than a few districts in California that employ SLPs with ASHA certification. In Burbank, for instance, 14 of our staff of 16 hold the CCC or are in the process for certification. We, like Glendora, are proud of the level of expertise we offer our students.
