The ASHA Leader OnlineLETTERS

An Exciting 25 Years

I entered the working world of speech-language pathology ready to be a department head for two long-term care facilities. One dynamic boss, Alma Peters, and a dynamic physical therapy and occupational therapy staff nurtured a scared 23-year-old to where I am today. These were highlights of my career: Medicare billing for dysphagia, computer-based efficacy, dynamic state and national association conventions, and a public service announcement supported by the Chicago Bulls world champions that a speech-language pathologist was the provider of choice for those in need of help for a speech-language disorder. Thank you to my alma mater Bradley University and to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association for a most exciting and challenging 25 years.
