Facilitate Required Continuing Education

Just as we can assume with confidence that bridge tolls won't decrease anytime soon, so can we believe that eventually every state will mandate continuing education within a framework for speech-language pathologists, as Pennsylvania and other states have already done.

We have five years to complete 180 hours of appropriate job-related training. Wouldn't it be a gesture of professional support if ASHA were to become an approved provider, thus automatically granting us credits (as in Act 48 in Pennsylvania) for ASHA-sponsored seminars, teleconferences, etc. It doesn't cost ASHA anything, just requires filling out some paperwork, and it makes accountability so much smoother for practicing SLPs and audiologists.

We all receive solicitations in the mail about professional conferences, many of which have already made agreements to provide credit for other professionals, but not SLPs. Wouldn't it be appropriate for our professional organization to facilitate our completing the 180 hours?
