I was delighted to read Richard W. Shield's letter ["Direct Billing by SLPs"] in the Sept. 23, 2003, issue of The ASHA Leader. I would like to congratulate you on your courage in publishing this letter.
About a year ago I also tried to get one of my letters published dealing with the same subject matter, and was rebuffed by the people who were in charge of The ASHA Leader at that time.
It is my belief that we as SLPs are discriminated against by the present system, and this requires correction at the earliest possible date. I have e-mailed my congresswoman and senators to back H.R. 1995 and S. 568.
