Publications Board Structure and Responsibilities

The Publications Board is charged with planning, coordinating, and monitoring the production of scholarly journals for the Association and with implementing the policies of the Association concerning publications. The Publications Board reports to the vice president for research and technology, who sits on the Board of Directors. The Publications Board consists of no more than eight voting members, including the Chair, all of whom demonstrate an established record of research and scholarly publications, have substantial editorial and/or review experience with scholarly publications, and represent researchers and service providers in the areas of speech, language, and hearing. The voting members of the Publications Board are appointed for staggered 3-year terms. The editors of the ASHA journals under the purview of the Publications Board are ex officio, nonvoting, members of the Publications Board.

Also on the Council of Editors and invited to attend Publications Board meetings is the editor of Contemporary Issues in Communication Science and Disorders , published by the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. The National Office ex officio to the Publications Board is designated by ASHA's executive director and is generally the director of ASHA’s Publications unit.
