Physician Supervision Issues for FEES (Members only)

Dysphagia Correct Coding Edits
The National Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) was established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to detect procedures that have been inappropriately performed on the same day. Read more about CCI edits for billing swallowing and speech procedures.

Take Action - Separate SLP and PT in Medicare Outpatient Statute
Take 5 minutes to help advance two bills – S.568 and H.R. 1995 – that allow SLPs to directly bill the Medicare program. Contact your members of Congress and ask that they support this legislation. You can make a difference: visit ASHA's advocacy site.

What is ASHA's position on new treatment techniques for swallowing?
ASHA does not typically evaluate assessment or treatment programs, products, or procedures. However, ASHA is committed to evidence-based practice and strongly urges members to critically evaluate available evidence for all areas of practice. In an attempt to assist members in making informed decisions about new treatment techniques and programs, ASHA has developed a list of questions the practitioner should ask themselves before using a technique, purchasing a product, or attending a program. Health Care Sessions at the 2004 ASHA Convention
