- ED Releases Final Requirements and Selection Criteria For the Multi-Year IEPs and Paper work Waiver Programs
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) released a notice announcing additional requirements and selection criteria for 2 demonstration programs authorized under IDEA 2004. ED will select up to 15 States to participate in a pilot program, the Multi-Year Individualized Education Program (IEP) Demonstration Program and the Paperwork Waiver Demonstration Program (Paperwork Waiver Program) [PDF]. These additional requirements and selection criteria for both competitions appeared in the July 6 Federal Register and became effective on August 6, 2007. ASHA submitted comments on ED's proposed requirements and selection criteria on these programs in March 2007, and many of its recommendations were included in this final notice. To access the detailed comment letter, visit ASHA's IDEA Action Center. Contact Catherine D. Clarke, ASHA's Director of Education and Regulatory Advocacy via e-mail at cclarke@asha.org.
