ASHA-PAC, established in 1986, is the political action committee (PAC) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The purpose of the PAC is to provide financial support to incumbents, challengers and open seat candidates for the U.S. House and Senate who recognize the importance of speech-language pathology and audiology services and who demonstrate concern for the rights of all citizens to receive these services. Contributions are made to the ASHA-PAC by ASHA members and are entirely voluntary.
The ASHA-PAC Board of Directors is made up of seven individuals elected by the ASHA Executive Board. Representatives on the PAC Board and are chosen on the basis of their political experience and for geographical balance. ASHA's executive director serves as the PAC's treasurer.
