(10/26/07)

The U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), submitted to Congress its 27th annual report on the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Parts B and C. The report consists of two volumes.

Volume I is focused on the children and students being served under IDEA, including trends in numbers and percentages of infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children served; declassification of elementary school-age students; and characteristics of secondary students served for emotional disturbance. It also has state-level data profiles and rank-ordered state data tables.

Volume II contains extensive appendix tables of state-reported data required under IDEA, including the number of infants and toddlers receiving early intervention services disaggregated by race/ethnicity; the number of children receiving special education services disaggregated by disability category and race/ethnicity; and graduation and dropout data.

The purpose of this 27th annual report is to provide an overview of national activities to improve the education of children with disabilities funded under IDEA in FY2005.
