ASHA Strategic Plan

Issue F

Third Quarter Progress Report (July - September)

The expectation that people of all nations worldwide will have access to quality, culturally competent speech-language pathology and audiology programs and services to achieve optimum communication abilities across their lifespan, requires encouraging mutual international collaboration efforts to set standards for registration/credentialing for experts in communication sciences and disorders worldwide while respecting each nation's models of education and professional practice.

3rd Quarter Highlights

  • A list of states that have licensure/certification reciprocity for holders of ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence has been developed.
  • Two surveys requesting information from colleagues who work in other countries or have an interest in international service delivery and national Communication Sciences and Disorders organizations in other countries have been developed and field tested.
  • Eight states have funded salary supplement legislation this year (DE, IN, MO, MS, NV, OK, RI, WV). Two additional states (AR, LA) have approved the concept but have not appropriated funds to provide the supplement.

There are 8 strategies in the work plan for Issue F. Following is the status for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter.
