Increased international exchange of professional knowledge, information, and education related to ethics, clinical practice, and supervision/clinical education in communication sciences and disorders will require a variety of dissemination, communication, educational, and professional practice delivery systems.
3rd Quarter Highlights
- The expanded Recruitment and Retention resource packet and the new RTI Web site and brief on the "Roles of SLPs in RTI" have been promoted in The ASHA Leader, on ASHA's Web site, and in Access Schools.
- ASHA collaborated with the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists to give permission for them to reprint portions of an ASHA guideline on video fluoroscopy in their new policy document on dysphagia.
- The 2006 Schools Conference included a session on culturally and linguistically diverse clients and their families, and infused information on culturally and linguistically diverse students and their families throughout the concurrent sessions.
- The Schools Conference included 15 international participants.
- The Health Care Conference had 7 international participants.
- An article on use of telepractices in speech-language pathology was published in the September issue of Caring Magazine (the publication of the National Association of Homecare and Hospice on telehealth in homecare).
- An article on use of telepractices in speech-language pathology was submitted to Home Healthcare Nurse.
- Developed an educational DVD and brochure on telepractice in speech-language pathology.
- The ASHA Special Interest Divisions participated in and supported the ASHA Schools and Health Care conferences.
- Reviewed way to make ASHA membership categories less confusing to prospective members.
- Submitted a final report related to International Affiliates on the benefits of membership and the dues/fees that should be charged.
