Alison Lemke, MA, CCC-SLP, is a clinical speech-language pathologist and speech-language pathology service coordinator at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center, Marshalltown, Iowa, and is also on the faculty of the University of Northern Iowa as a clinical supervisor. Alison has worked for more than 20 years in rural Iowa settings as a speech-language pathologist and manager of speech-language pathology and audiology services. She received her bachelor's degree in communication disorders from Valparaiso University in 1983 and her master's degree in speech pathology from the University of Iowa in 1985.
Alison is Vice President for Administration and Planning for the 2008–2010 term. Her professional volunteer activities for ASHA have included serving on the Legislative Council (LC) from 1995 to 2003, as Chair of the LC Resolution Screening Subcommittee in 1997, as a member of the LC Special Rules Committee in 1999, and as a member of the Financial Planning Board from 2004 to 2006. Volunteer positions for the Iowa Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA) have included being a member of the Board of Directors, 1995–2006; Chair of the convention Exhibits Committee, 1993–1995; President-Elect and convention operations manager, 2001–2002; President, 2003–2004; and Past-President, 2005–2006. Alison was also a member of the Iowa Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology Examiners from 2001 to 2002.
Alison's areas of interest are broad and include medical speech-language pathology, speech-language pathology regulatory and billing issues, and administration/supervision. She is currently working toward a master's of public administration degree at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa.
