We all use ethics to guide our decision making every day when we provide speech-language and dysphagia service to older adults. However, situations are not always black and white. Speaking with colleagues or following a model to frame our decision making process can be very useful.

Division 15, Gerontology is sponsoring a live forum event on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, 8:00-10:00 pm EDT. The event will bring together three experts from three different fields of geriatric care to discuss ways we can all use ethical thinking to be better care providers. During these "office hours," these experts will be available to answer your questions:

  • Travis T. Threats, Ph.D., chair and an associate professor, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Saint Louis University, teaching courses in neurogenic communication disorders
  • Althea Wagman-Bolster, speech-language pathologist, New England Rehabilitation, Woburn, Massachusetts, specializing in dysphagia and Modified Barium Swallow execution and interpretation
  • Ann Kulichik, clinical specialist, Genesis Health Care Corporation in New England, developing educational modules, providing mentoring, and rolling out clinical initiatives

The event is open to all ASHA and NSSLHA members. It is not offered for CEUs.
